I’ve found a new home.
Don’t get me wrong, The Land of the Snow and 10,000 Lakes will always be home and my heart longs to see my family and friends there.
But with my transition to Gainesville, Georgia, God reconfirms every day, “You are at home.”
-at home: relaxed and comfortable : at ease : in harmony with surroundings : on familiar ground
Merriam Webster Definition
Countless parts contribute to Gainesville feeling like home, but these are a few of my favorite things.
Fellow CGA Classmates
These are my people.
They constantly challenge me and love me through the inevitable vulnerable moments of CGA. I never expected to find another loving and caring family like my Race squad, but that’s exactly what God has given me again in this season.
Farmily
The six of us live in a quaint farm house in the countryside near the Adventures in Missions’ office. Some of my favorite moments are when we’re gathered in the living room, eating copious amounts of popcorn, and talking about everything and anything.
Also, not pictured is our pet fish: Lazarus.
Mikala: My Discipler!
Oh my goodness, this girl is a HUGE blessing in my life!
When I first heard about her, I knew I would find her and make her my discipler. The amazing part about God is He knows our hearts and desires, and gives us good gifts. She was assigned to be my discipler without me having to force her into it 🙂
Mikala is filled with the Holy Spirit and continuously teaches me about what it means to be a daughter of God.
In-Depth Classes
As someone who values reflection, self-awareness, and growth, I’ve been beyond excited for CGA classes. Every class and every topic brings new light to my life now and helps me to figure out my past.
Just last week Doctor Jerome Lubbe, a neurologist, spoke for three days on how our spiritual walks are entwined with our physical beings.
‘Sploring with Pals
North Georgia hosts a lot of quirky and unique places to ‘splore and this has quickly become one of my favorite past times.
A month in, Kayla and I found ‘Baby Land’, a hospital dedicated to cabbage patch kids.
Really, our faces say it all.
Growing with Pals
Being in community with friends who appreciate worshiping and pursuing the Lord in new ways together has been incredible to experience. We’ve had a few water color and worship nights with the farmily and friends.
While I still can’t for the life of me figure out how to water color, it’s been amazing to try different venues of seeking the Lord together!
Trees!
North Georgia. Is. So. Gorgeous!
Some days– ok, most days– I just want to be by a tree and surrounded by nature. God knew exactly what I needed for this season, and blessed me with not just a few trees, but tons of forests! There’s even a state park just down the road!
Every morning I sit outside with my Father, sip on my coffee, and watch the sun rise around this tree.
Home on the Mountain Range
Not only did God give me trees, but also… MOUNTAINS!
I’ve been told from my Swiss roommate, “These are more like hills..” Despite this, I’m still baffled I only live 40 minutes south of the Appalachian mountains.
If it’s a Saturday and you need to find me, I’ll most likely be wandering around these trails.
It’s good to be at home 🙂
